PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University heavyweight rowing team wrapped up fall racing Sunday at Lake Carnegie when it hosted the Princeton Chase.
"The Chase is our team's first chance to race our full squad and it was a good first go for our group," said Head Coach Greg Hughes. "All of the eights posted solid pieces and the team followed it up with some good racing in small boats in the afternoon. It's still very early in our season and there's lots of work left to do, but it was a good first step in our season."
The Tigers recorded the top two times in the morning session of the 8+, an event with 46 entries. The A boat (12:23.53) recorded the fastest time and the B boat (12:30.28) the second-fastest. Princeton's C boat (12:51.38) took fifth, its D boat 15th (13:14.70), E boat 30th (13:48.55) and F boat 42nd (17:28.49).
Princeton won the 4+, with the A boat (14:15.28) coming in first, the C boat (14:32.07) third and the B boat (14:42.52) fifth in an event that had 35 entries.
The 2x also saw the Tigers finish first (15:51.01), as did the 2- (15:44.617). In addition to Princeton's A boat winning the 2-, the B boat came in second (15:52.89) and the C boat third (16:09.75).
The 4- saw the Tigers finish second (14:47.73).
