Bell Named NWPC Rookie of the Year, Six Named To All Conference Teams

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Princeton men's water polo team was well represented on the 2025 All-NWPC teams as six Tigers garnered all-conference honors. Taylor Bell highlighted the group by being named the NWPC Rookie of the Year.
Bell earned NWPC Rookie of the Week honors five times throughout the season. The freshman has appeared in all 30 games and leads the squad with 56 goals. Bell added 40 assists, 27 steals, 12 drawn exclusions and 21 sprint wins to the stat sheet on his way to being named the Rookie of the Year and a member of the All-NWPC Second Team.
Bell is the program's seventh all time conference Rookie of the Year. The most recent Tiger to collect the honors was Roko Pozaric in the 2021 season.
Princeton had three players named to the All-NWPC First Team in Kristóf Kovács, Gavin Appeldorn and Logan McCarroll.
Kovács has been a force in the cage for Princeton, recording 241 saves for a .514 save percentage. The junior keeper scored his first career goal against the No. 5 Fordham Rams and has racked up 21 assists and 18 steals. Kovács, a two-time ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American, was named to the Cutino Award Watch List for the second straight season and owns an 18-5 record on the year.
Appeldorn saw time in 28 games with 17 starts. The 2024 ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American scored 39 goals and tacked on 45 drawn exclusions, 21 assists, 14 steals and seven blocks to collect First Team honors.
Logan McCarroll, the third Tiger on the All-NWPC First Team, made 26 starts in 30 games. McCarroll was third on the team in goals with 49 for a new career high. The senior was second on the team in drawn exclusions with 61 and had 15 assists, 13 steals and 10 blocks.
Bell and Ádám Peocz collected All-NWPC Second Team honors for Princeton.
Peocz was second on the squad in goals and assists with 55 and 54 respectively. The sophomore also collected 25 steals and 10 blocks on the defensive side to be named to the Second Team.
JP Ohl, the program's new all-time assist record holder, was named to the All-NWPC Honorable Mention squad. Ohl leads Princeton with 76 assists on the year, the second most in a single season in program history. Ohl added 25 goals, 16 steals, 12 drawn exclusions and six blocks.
