Men's Hockey Edged By Brown, 2-1
November 07, 2025 | Men's Ice Hockey
Special teams were the difference maker in a 2-1 loss for Princeton at Brown in the ECAC and Ivy League opener for both teams.
Brown connected on a power-play goal and added a short-handed tally, while the Tigers mustered just a lone power-play goal of their own.
The Tigers were 1-for-5 on the power play, and were 0-for-3 in the third period while conceding a Ryan St. Louis short-handed goal which proved to be the eventual game-winner.
Jake Manfre had the goal for the Tigers, giving him three in three games to start the season.
Tyler Shea made 25 saves for the Bears, while Arthur Smith made 20 for the Tigers.
A power-play goal from Brown with 7:23 left in the first period put the Tigers behind for the first time in three games. After a first attempted score by the Bears was waved off for a high stick, Brown connected on a second chance when Ben Poitras knocked home a Matt Desiderio centering pass.
The Tigers tied the game midway through the second period with a power-play goal of their own. Jake Manfre got the goal, his third of the year, tapping in a cross-ice pass from Jaxson Ezman with 9:15 to play in the middle frame. Tyler Rubin picked up the second assist with a pass of his own that was threaded across the zone to Ezman after great work from David Ma to enter the zone and weave through the Bears defense to set up the scoring sequence.
Halfway through the third period, Brown took a 2-1 lead when Ryan St. Louis broke in free after blocking a Princeton shot from the point and tucked in a backhander for a short-handed goal with 9:05 to play.
The Tigers conclude the weekend road trip with a game at Yale on November 8 at 7 p.m.
