Men's Hockey Upends Union, 5-1
December 05, 2025 | Men's Ice Hockey
The Tigers, who were 0-4-0 in road games this season, got goals from five different players to put a home loss on a Garnet Chargers team that entered the game 5-2-1 in its new home at the M&T Bank Center this season.
The win is the first for the Tigers at Union since a 6-4 win in the first round of the 2023 ECAC Playoffs. In the regular season, this is Princeton first win in Schenectady since a 4-1 win on 11/15/08 which snaps a 15-game regular season losing streak at Union.
Princeton's four-goal win matches the largest margin of victory by a Princeton team in Schenectady since a 4-0 win on 12/5/03 and is tied for the fourth-largest margin of victory on the road in the all-time series.
With the win, Princeton moved into sixth place in the ECAC standings and is two points out of a tie for third.
Caron Buydens and David Jacobs each had two-assist nights. For Buydens, the multi-point game was the second of his career and first since a two-point night against RPI on 2/16/24.
Conor Callaghan made 29 saves in the win, one stop off his career high.
The Tigers were 4-for-5 on the penalty kill, stopping the final four Union power plays after conceding a goal on the first.

Matthew Souliere opened the scoring for the Tigers 2:53 into the game with a seeing-eye one-timer from the right circle. Souliere had an initial chance on a breakaway denied, but he found the rebound and cycled back to Kai Greaves who slid a pass back to Souliere open near the goal line where he beat Korpi to the near post. The play was not called a goal on the ice, but after video review the puck was confirmed to cross the line and Souliere has his first collegiate goal.A Sou-per Strike!

The Tigers extended their lead to 2-0 when a Union turnover allowed Brendan Gorman to flip a pass to Jaxson Ezman all alone in front of the Garnet Charger net. Two quick dekes later, Ezman flipped in his fourth goal of the season.

Princeton's two-goal lead was short lived as the Tigers took a penalty on the ensuing sequence and Union quickly took advantage via a Colby MacArthur goal with 6:27 to play in the opening period. That Was E-Z!

The Tigers had to kill off two Union power plays in the second period, and they did so by washing away one to start the period and another later. That second kill sprung the Tigers forward with momentum that eventually led to a Jake Manfre goal with 2:58 to play in the middle stanza. Carson Buydens came out of the box and worked the forecheck deep before passing off to David Jacobs who patiently skated out from the corner and floated a pass to an open Manfre in front who one-timed home his fourth goal of the season.

Two Princeton goals in a span of 1:20 early in the third period blew the game wide open. Jayden Sison had the first, ripping a long-distance shot through traffic and into the top left corner 1:38 into the third to make it a 4-1 game.Finding The Open Manfre!
