Marc-Anthony McGowan Named Ivy League Wrestler of the Week
February 04, 2025 | Wrestling
PRINCETON, N.J. – After an impressive weekend that included three tech fall victories, Marc-Anthony McGowan was named the Ivy League Wrestler of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
McGowan earned tech falls in Princeton's dual meets against Drexel, Brown and Harvard this weekend.
On the road against Drexel on Saturday, McGowan got the tech against #32 Desmond Pleasant, racking up a 10-1 lead in the first period and continuing to score until the last second to get the TF, 17-2 (7:00).
At home for an Ivy doubleheader on Sunday, McGowan continued to dominate, first taking down Brown's Jared Brunner, 19-4 (6:54) before going on to get the tech in 6:18 against Harvard's Isaiah Adams, 24-7.
With his wins this weekend, McGowan has now earned a tech fall or a pin in six of his last seven matches, winning the only outlier by decision. Since beginning the season at Midlands, McGowan has posted a record of 13-2.
The award is the redshirt freshman's first of his career. With the exception of teammate Eligh Rivera's co-wrestler of the week award last Tuesday, it is also the first time a Tiger has outright won league weekly honors since 2022.
McGowan and the Tigers will hit the mat again this weekend for a dual with #9 Cornell on the road in Ithaca on Saturday, with the first bout scheduled for 1 p.m.
