No. 6 Princeton Takes Down Harvard 13-11 For Another Top 10 RPI Win
March 22, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
The Princeton men's lacrosse team had a week to sit on its Ivy League-opening loss at Cornell a week ago. To rebound, Princeton was faced with yet another top 10 RPI opponent, its sixth such challenge of the season.
This time the challenge was Harvard, who brought an offense that was averaging 15 goals per game and was ranked No. 1 nationally in offensive efficiency. Princeton then proceeded to hold the Crimson to its fewest goals of the year en route to a 13-11 victory in front of 2,079 at Sherrerd Field. Princeton's win was its fourth over a top 10 RPI team, along with wins over Penn State, Duke and North Carolina.
The biggest task was to slow down Harvard's Sam King, who came in averaging six points per game, fourth-best in Division I. The assignment went to Princeton's Colin Mulshine, who held King to one goal and one assist on seven shots, with three turnovers mixed in.
Harvard scored the first goal of the game, but Princeton responded with five straight, making it 5-1 after one quarter. Harvard never got closer than two the rest of the way.
Offensively, Princeton had no one standout and instead got two goals, one from Nate Kabiri and then another from Sean Cameron, with an assist from Kabiri, making it 13-9 with seven minutes left. Harvard would get two late goals, making it a two-goal margin once again, and had a possession in the final minute that ended with a Michael Bath caused turnover.
Kabiri had two goals and two assists and was one of four Tigers with two goals, along with Chad Palumbo, Tucker Wade and Coulter Mackesy, who also had two assists. With his day, Mackesy is now tied with Jon Hess for fourth all-time in points in a career (215) and moved within one of Chris Massey for second all-time in goals.
Ryan Croddick made 17 more saves in goal for the Tigers. Shortstick defensive midfielder Cooper Mueller had an assist, two caused turnovers and four ground balls. Andrew McMeekin won 16 of 25 face-offs with seven ground balls.
Next up for the Tigers is another Top 20 opponent, Dartmouth, this coming Saturday in Hanover. Face-off is at noon.
