No. 4 Princeton Tops Lehigh 17-12
April 01, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
On a night when five players had at least four points, including a freshman who had his breakout game, as the Princeton men's lacrosse team put up its season high in goals, the biggest numbers were these: 16 for 23, with 12 ground balls. That was the face-off line for Princeton's Andrew McMeekin, who had his best day of the season while matched against Lehigh's Sean Dow, who came into the game as the No. 4 FO man in Division I at 65 percent.
With the combination of McMeekin's success and the offensive balance, fourth-ranked Princeton took down Lehigh 17-12 in its only Tuesday game of the year. The Tigers improved to 7-2 on the year and will next host Vermont Saturday.
McMeekin was the Most Outstanding Player of the Ivy League tournament and a second-team All-Ivy selection a year ago, when he won 55 percent of his draws and had a school record 132 ground balls. This year he has been below .500 throughout, though he has now gone 41 for 67 with 26 ground balls in his last three games.
As McMeekin started possessions, Princeton's offense finished them. High school teammates Colin Burns (3G, 2A) and Nate Kabiri (2G, 3A) had five-point nights each, while Coulter Mackesy (2G, 2A), Peter Buonanno (2G, 2A) and Tucker Wade (3G, 1A) had four points apiece. Wade dodged most of the Lehigh defense on one of his goals.
Princeton never trailed in the game and, after it was tied at 2-2, Lehigh never pulled even again either. The Tigers went on a 7-1 run from the late first quarter into the second, and the closest Lehigh came after that was 10-7 late in the second, befroe Burns scored with 16 seconds left to make it 11-7 at intermission.
Defenseman Hunter Spiess had a goal against a 10-man ride, for the first of his career. Princeton also got two goals from Chad Palumbo and single goals from Carson Krammer and Braedon Saris.
Finn Fox and Michael Bath had two caused turnovers each. Ryan Croddick made 14 saves in goal.

Buonanno's night was particularly impressive as the freshman matched his season's point production in one night and did so in impressive fashion, most notably on his second goal, a rocket from about 12 yards out.OH ME OH MY, #19. pic.twitter.com/CbnPxcEuUT
