Princeton Wrestling Welcomes Ryan Wolfe as Assistant Coach

PRINCETON, N.J. – Ryan Wolfe will join Princeton wrestling as a new assistant coach, the team announced Tuesday.
Wolfe, an All-American, three-time NCAA qualifier, and three-time EWL Champion, joins the Tigers with an impressive resume in both wrestling and coaching, coming from a seven-year stint at Rider.

Wolfe comes to Princeton after serving as assistant coach at his alma mater, Rider, since 2018. In Wolfe's first year as an assistant coach under Head Coach John Hangey, the Broncs sent four wrestlers to NCAA Championships in Dean Sherry (174), Anthony Cefolo (133), Jesse Dellavecchia (165) and Ethan Laird (197). Sherry and Laird each won their weight class at EWL Championships as the Broncs finished second as a team for the second-straight year.
In 2019-20, Dellavecchia and Laird earned All-America recognition from the NWCA following the cancellation of NCAAs due to COVID-19. As the No. 4 seed, Dellavecchia was honored as a First Team All-American, while 16th-seeded Laird took Honorable Mention recognition.
The Broncs reached new heights under Wolfe in 2020-21, with Dellavecchia becoming a National Finalist - the first in Rider history. The Broncs finished third at MAC Championships that year, with Hangey earning MAC Co-Coach of the Year honors and six Broncs qualifying for NCAAs.
Prior to coaching at Rider, Wolfe spent one year as an assistant coach at Lock Haven.
As a Bronc himself, Wolfe earned All-America honors in 2017. He was a three-time NCAA DI tournament qualifier and three-time EWL Champion. He was a four-time EWL finalist, a two-time place-winner at the Midlands Tournament, and he was also a freestyle All-American.
Wolfe is originally from New Castle, Delaware. He and his wife, Chelsea, currently reside in Hamilton, New Jersey, with their son, Callan, and they are expecting another baby boy in July. As avid fans of the Red Sox, they rarely miss watching their games.
Chelsea and Ryan met while attending Rider University. They also have two dogs, Sammy and Koda. In their free time, they enjoy visiting the beach, taking walks, and going on bike rides. Additionally, they appreciate attending country concerts and spending time with friends.
