For the eighth time in program history, Princeton has claimed the Ivy League women's golf championship as the Tigers dominated the field en route to a 16-shot victory at Royal Palm Golf Course in Naples, Fla.
The Tigers led by 14 shots after two rounds, and that work done over 36 holes staked Princeton to a large lead and the field could not come back as the Tigers took home the team title for the first time since 2022 and for the fourth time in the last eight Ivy League Championship tournaments.
On Sunday, Princeton's top three players - Catherine Rao, Abra Richmond and Victoria Liu - combined for four birdies over the first three holes to get the Tigers off to a strong start. Rao closed with a back nine that saw her hit four birdies with just one bogey before closing with an eagle on the par-five 18th. The 5-under round on Sunday tied the low round of the tournament after medalist Vanessa Zhang of Harvard turned in a 5-under round on Saturday.
Rao's eagle on the 18th was one of five eagles on the tournament across the six-team field, and Princeton golfers had three of the five. Liu eagled the same hole on Friday before making eagle on the par-five 10th on Saturday. The other two eagles were by Yale players, with Mia Sessa making the par-five seventh in three on Friday and Selena Tang making the par-four ninth in two on Saturday.
Individually, only three players finished under par for the tournament with Rao in that group at -4 to finish in third place. Liu finished fourth at 1-over with Abra Richmond tying for fifth at 2-over. Olivia Duan tied for seventh at 5-over to put all four of Princeton's scorers in the top eight.
Harvard's Zhang was individual medalist at -11. She started strong, shooting -9 over the first two rounds before closing with a 2-under third round to clear runner-up Christine Chang from Columbia at by five strokes at -6.
Princeton awaits its NCAA Regional destination which will be revealed on April 23 via the NCAA Selection Show live on the Golf Channel at 1 p.m.
