Cornell Pulls Away From Princeton To Win Ivy Tournament; Tigers Await NCAA Selections

Top-seeded and top-ranked Cornell pulled away from second-seeded and second-ranked Princeton 20-15 Sunday afternoon to win the Ivy League tournament championship on Schoellkopf Field. Princeton had won the previous two Ivy tournaments.
The win snapped Princeton's eight-game winning streak and dropped the Tigers to 12-3 on the season. The NCAA Selections will be announced Sunday night at 9:30, and the Tigers figure to be seeded either third or fourth.
Chad Palumbo and Nate Kabiri scord four goals apiece for Princeton and were both selected to the all-tournament team, as was face-off man Andrew McMeekin, who finished the weekend 31 for 54 with 22 ground balls. It was the third straight year that McMeekin has made the Ivy League all-tournament team.
Coulter Mackesy scored once to tie Jesse Hubbard's program record of 163 goals in a career. Princeton led 9-8 at halftime and 14-10 in the third quarter before Cornell sprinted away.
