July 05, 2025 | Heavyweight Rowing
HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England – Theo Bell and Marcus Chute of the Princeton University heavyweight rowing team advanced to the Silver Goblet final at the Henley Royal Regatta Saturday at the River Thames.
"What an amazing race from Theo and Marcus," said Head Coach Greg Hughes. "It's been impressive to watch these two as they have worked their way through the week's racing, coming from behind in every race so far to find the lead and never let up. The entire Tiger Heavies family and Princeton boathouse will be tuned in tomorrow to watch the Goblets final!"
The Tiger pair beat the Spanish national team's pair of Jaime Canalejo Pazos & Javier Garcia Ordoñez to earn a spot in the final. Bell and Chute had to come from behind to win, after trailing their opponents slightly at the Barrier, they came through to take the lead by Fawley and stretched their lead out to two-and-a-half lengths by the finish. Prior to today's race, Bell and Chute had to go through the qualifer. The Silver Goblet final will take place on Sunday, July 6.
In addition, Tristan Wenger will race in the final of the Visitor's Challenge Cup as part of the Leander Club and Tideway Sculler's School crew, and Joe Wellington' 29 will be racing in the final of the Fawley Challenge Cup as part of the Windsor Boys' School crew.
