PRINCETON, N.J. – Daniel Ittycheria was named a forward to watch on the United Soccer Coaches' NCAA Division I Players to Watch List, the organization announced Tuesday.
The honor comes as Ittycheria returns to Princeton for his senior season after leading the Tigers in goals last season.
Ittycheria is one of just 20 forwards selected to the Players to Watch List, which recognizes United Soccer Coaches All-American and All-Region players from 2024 who are set to return for the 2025 season.
With nine goals, Ittycheria ranked third in the Ivy League in 2024. His performance earned him Second Team All-Ivy honors at the conclusion of the regular season.
Three of Ittycheria's goals came during the Ivy League Tournament, as he led the no. 3-seeded Tigers past the no. 2 seed, #16 Cornell in a thrilling overtime victory in the semifinal - with Ittycheria scoring Princeton's first goal and the game-winner.
In the tournament final, Ittycheria scored again to defeat the no. 1 seed, #12 Penn, on its home field, helping the Tigers win their first Ivy League Tournament Championship.
For his efforts, Ittycheria was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.
Last season marked the second-consecutive year that Ittycheria was the leading scorer for Princeton, as the Warren, N.J. native also recorded nine goals in 2023.
As a result of his consistent success, Ittycheria was drafted by D.C. United in the MLS Superdraft 2025 in December. He was selected in the second round as the 40th pick overall.
Returning to finish his collegiate career in the Orange & Black, Ittycheria will now look to begin the 2025 season on September 5 alongside a squad of Tigers ready to build on last year's momentum and set sights even higher.
