August 20, 2025 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. – Daniel Ittycheria was named to the TopDrawerSoccer (TDS) Second Team as the outlet announced its preseason awards Tuesday. Ittycheria and Giuliano Fravolini Whitchurch were also listed among the TDS top 100 players to watch, with Ittycheria ranking 14th nationally and Whitchurch ranking 57th.
Both returning seniors were listed as United Soccer Coaches' preseason players to watch earlier this month, recognized among the best Division I players in their respective positions.
Ittycheria has been Princeton's leading scorer for two consecutive seasons (2023, 2024). Last year, he ranked third in the Ivy League with nine goals, earning Second Team All-Ivy honors at the conclusion of the regular season.
Three of Ittycheria's goals came during the Ivy League Tournament in November as he led the no. 3-seeded Tigers past the no. 2 seed, #16 Cornell, and the no. 1 seed, #12 Penn to win Princeton's first Ivy League Tournament Championship.
For his efforts, Ittycheria was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.
In December, Ittycheria was drafted by D.C. United in the MLS Superdraft 2025 in December. He was selected in the second round as the 40th pick overall.
Incoming 2025 captain Whitchurch was a cornerstone of the Tiger defense last year, starting all 19 matches for the Tigers while recording a squad-high 1717 minutes. He also scored a goal in the Tigers' season opener against Rutgers.
Helping the Tigers to a goals-against average of just 1.16, Whitchurch was named to the 2024 First Team All-Ivy. He was also named to the Ivy League All-Tournament team.
With preseason in full swing and the first match on the horizon on September 5th, Ittycheria and Whitchurch are poised to be key pieces of the Tigers' success as the Tigers reflect on an outstanding 2024 season and set their sights even higher this year.
