Women’s Rugby Drops Season Opener at LIU

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Princeton University women's rugby team opened its fourth season at the varsity level against Long Island University Saturday at Robert Blitz Field, falling to the Sharks.
Playing in her first collegiate rugby match, Hazel Pron scored for the Tigers and Ciara Loughran went 1-for-1 on conversions.
Despite a valiant effort from Princeton in the first half, LIU took a 33-0 lead into halftime.
There was no quit in the Tigers, as Pron weaved through multiple Shark defenders and found the try line with 11:14 remaining in the second half, making it a 40-7 scoreline after a successful Loughran conversion.
LIU would go on to earn the win with a final score of 54-7.
