PRINCETON, N.J. – Jack Jasinski and Giuliano Fravolini Whitchurch were named to the United Soccer Coaches' defenders to watch list on Tuesday.
The honor comes as the two seniors return to Princeton for their final season after playing pivotal roles in the team's success last year, which saw the Tigers win the Ivy League Tournament.
Jasinski and Whitchurch are two of just 21 defenders selected to the NCAA Division I Players to Watch List, which recognizes United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and All-Region players from 2024 who are set to return for the 2025 season.
Last year, Jasinski tallied nine assists, putting him at third in the Princeton record book for most assists in a season. Three of those assists came during the Ivy League tournament, helping the no. 3 seeded Tigers defeat the no. 1 and 2 seeds to win the tournament.
Jasinski also scored the game-winner in Princeton's Ivy League matchup against Yale.
Incoming 2025 captain Whitchurch was a cornerstone of the Tiger defense last year, starting all 19 matches for the Tigers while recording a squad-high 1717 minutes. He also scored a goal in the Tigers' season opener against Rutgers.
Helping the Tigers to a goals-against average of just 1.16, both defenders earned league honors at the conclusion of the season. Whitchurch was named to the First Team All-Ivy, while Jasinski was named to the Second-Team All-Ivy. Both Whitchurch and Jasinski were named to the Ivy League All-Tournament team.
As Princeton kicks off the season in one month, these two Tigers will be important players to watch as the team looks to build on last year's success and set its sights even higher heading into 2025.
