September 26, 2025 | Women's Rowing - Open
PRINCETON – Camille VanderMeer '23 and Hannah Scott '21 earned medals at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai, China this week.
VanderMeer helped the United States four to a gold medal on Friday morning, posting a 6.27.71, almost a second in front of Romania (6:28.44) and over three seconds ahead of New Zealand. It's first world title for the boat since 2018.
"Everyone's out there rowing their best race," said the former Tiger to USRowing. "We know a lot of the crews we're up against have one hell of a sprint: it's something that we've been practicing as well. At the end of the day, you're going to feel pressure from everyone all the time, that's what makes it sports."
VanderMeer will row in the mixed 8+ with former heavyweight rower Nathan Phelps '23 last this weekend.
Scott rowed the Great Britain double sculls to a silver medal on Thursday (6:32.92), trailing only the Netherlands (6:32.92). It's her eighth world medal overall for her country and second silver in the quadruple sculls.
