
Women's Volleyball Opens Ivy Play With 3-0 Sweep Of Penn

PHILADELPHIA – The Princeton University women's volleyball team opened Ivy League play with a 3-0 (37-35, 25-21, 25-15) sweep of the University of Pennsylvania inside the Palestra Friday night.
Erin McNair led the match in kills with 17 and service aces with two, while also tallying 12 digs for her second double-double of the season. Ava Harrington added a career-high 12 kills on .450 hitting percentage and a game-high four blocks while Valerie Nutakor recorded her fourth double-double of 2025 with 10 kills on a .357 hitting percentage and 11 digs. Sydney Draper finished with her fifth double-double of the season, compiling a match-high 52 assists and 16 digs. Olivia Foye's 23 digs were also a match-high.
The first set was truly a marathon. The Quakers took set point at 26-25, but a McNair kill tied the score at 26-26. Princeton and Penn continued trading set points until the score was knotted at 35-35; Nutakor took off down the stretch, putting down a kill to give the Tigers set point at 36-35 then another kill to wrap up a lengthy first set, 37-35.
While the Quakers took an early 4-2 lead in the second set, a kill by Scalamandre ignited a 4-0 run that put Princeton ahead, 6-4. Penn fought back to eventually take a 20-17 advantage, but a 6-0 Tiger run swung the momentum back Princeton's way, 23-20. Set point came from a Quaker service error then it was Nutakor who again delivered the kill for set point as Princeton earned the 25-20 second set victory.
The third set was played to a stalemate at 7-7, but a McNair kill led a 6-0 run that gave the Tigers a 13-7 advantage. Princeton stayed comfortable ahead, with a kill by Harrington giving the Tigers set point at 24-14. For the third time, a Nutakor kill wrapped up the set as Princeton took down Penn by 10 in the third set, 25-15, and 3-0 in the match.
