Men's Hockey Falls To St. Lawrence
January 31, 2026 | Men's Ice Hockey
Princeton was unable to complete the weekend sweep of the North Country, twice climbing to within a goal in search of a comeback at St. Lawrence but the Tigers came up short in a 6-2 loss.
The Tigers got back to within one with 12:36 to play on David Ma's second goal of the night that made it a 3-2 game, but the Saints countered with three goals in a span of 3:16 to slam the door.
Ma had two goals for Princeton, while Julian Facchinelli, David Jacobs and Jayden Sison each had assists.
One night after suffering a 7-0 loss to Quinnipiac, St. Lawrence came out with vigor in the opening period to the tune of a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 2-0 lead.
Sam LeDrew opened the scoring 7:23 in, finishing off a St. Lawrence 2-on-1 with a one-timer that Callaghan could not get a piece of despite a sliding effort.
The Saints added a power-play goal with 2:37 left in the first period when Rasmus Svartstrom got to a loose puck that banged off the end board to the left of Callaghan and was able to slip it inside the near post.
David Ma got the Tigers on the board 7:42 into the second period, one-timing a David Jacobs feed to the back of the net for his first goal of the season – and his first in 23 games overall dating back to Princeton's last trip to Appleton on Feb. 28, 2025.
St. Lawrence regained a two-goal lead just 0:42 later when they capitalized on a fanned shot from the Tigers at one end to transition the other way on a 2-on-1 that saw Tyler Cristall deposit a Cooper Pierson pass.
Ma once again cut the Princeton deficit to one with his second of the night 7:24 into the third period when his shot from the point had eyes and found its way through a pile in front.
Further insurance was added by Isaac Tremblay and via an Isack Bandu empty-netter.
The Tigers return to Baker Rink for a home series against Yale and Brown February 6-7.

The Saints slammed the door with a Gabe Westling goal at the 13:58 mark of the third period. Princeton had a chance to tie at one end, but a centering pass couldn't find a Tiger stick and instead sent the Saints in transition the other way where Westling cut to the middle to slap home an insurance tally.Took A Review, But That's A Good Goal!
