Daniells Scores Twice In 3-1 Win Over Yale
February 06, 2026 | Men's Ice Hockey
Two goals from Kai Daniells provided the difference in a 3-1 win for Princeton over Yale at Hobey Baker Rink.
The game was tied 1-1 late in the third period when Daniells connected for his first of the night with a redirection of a Chris Reiniger shot to net the eventual game-winner. He added an insurance tally via an empty-netter with 8.2 seconds to play to record his third multi-goal game of the season.
Princeton's 13 wins this season surpasses its win total from all of last season and the Tigers are now 10-1-0 at Hobey Baker Rink this season.
Julian Facchinelli had the other Princeton goal.
Arthur Smith made 22 saves in goal, stopping 19 over the first two periods before the Tigers clamped down to allow only three shots on goal in the third.
After a scoreless first period, Princeton scored early in the second to take a 1-0 lead.
Kai Greaves sprung a Tigers' 2-on-1 with a quick pass in the neutral zone, sending Jaxson Ezman and Julian Facchinelli the other way where Ezman made a strong move towards the net before dishing to Facchinelli who clanged a shot off the far post and in just 1:00 into the middle frame.
Sustained pressure late in the period led to Princeton taking a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. David Jacobs, Nick Marciano and Chris Reiniger built a continuous cycle before a Reiniger slapper was redirected home by Kai Daniells for his first goal in eight games.
In the third, the Tigers carried play most of the period but faced a Yale power play late after a high-sticking call on Drew Garzone with 3:43 to play. The Tigers held serve, not allowing a Bulldog shot attempt to wash away the penalty and eat up a majority of the rest of the game.
Shortly after the power play expired, Ian Devlin blocked a shot from David Andreychuck with 1:36 left – the last shot taken by a Bulldog player in the game as the Tigers would take the final six with the last the empty-netter from Daniells.
