Men's Hockey Bests Brown, 5-3
February 07, 2026 | Men's Ice Hockey
Princeton never trailed en route to a 5-3 win over Brown at Hobey Baker Rink to secure a weekend sweep and a full compliment of six points to move into fourth place in the ECAC with three weekends remaining.
Jaxson Ezman, David Jacobs, Jake Manfre and Luc Pelletier each had a goal and an assist for Princeton while Brendan Gorman added the other goal.
The Tigers (14-9-1, 10-6-0 ECAC) have reached the 10-win mark in ECAC play for the first time since the 2017-18 team went 10-10-2 in conference play en route to winning the ECAC Championship and punching a ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
With three weeks remaining in the regular season, Princeton sits in fourth place in the ECAC – five points behind Cornell for third and one ahead of Harvard which is fifth.
Princeton outshot Brown, 41-20, including a 33-11 edge in shots on goal through two periods.
Tyler Shea made 36 saves for Brown, while Arthur Smith made 17 in the win.
A penalty-filled affair saw Princeton go 2-for-9 on the power play while the Tigers washed away all three Brown power plays.
A busy first period saw the Tigers score twice, have a goal waived off after video review, and navigate 29 combined penalty minutes between the two teams as things got feisty quick.
It appeared as if the Tigers had taken a two-goal lead just 1:15 later when Kai Daniells stuffed home the rebound of his own shot, but Brown challenged for goaltender interference and it was determined that Daniells had also pushed in Shea's pad on the follow up and the goal was taken off the board.
Princeton would get a two-goal lead before the end of the period when Jaxson Ezman tipped in a Kai Daniells slap shot while the Tigers were on a five-minute power play following a Matthew Cataldo major for hitting from behind. David Jacobs bumped a pass to Daniells on the right win for a one-timer that Ezman knocked inside the post with 10.5 seconds left in the first period.
Brown netted a pair of unassisted goals after Princeton turnovers to level the game at 2-2 before the midway mark of the second period.
The first came off the stick of Andrew King 6:34 into the middle frame when he hit the post with a shot from in close only to have the puck bounce off Smith and just over the line. The second came 3:21 later when Mike Cataldo picked off a clearing pass attempt and beat Smith short-side to tie the game.
The score remained that way for the majority of the third until Jake Manfre sprung David Jacobs for an empty-netter with 0:55 to play that made the score 4-2.
That goal proved vital as Brown pushed back and Ben Poitras got the Bears again within one at the 19:50 mark to set up an interesting final 10 seconds that wasn't settled until Brendan Gorman was hauled down while in clean on a breakaway and the Brown net empty to be awarded a goal as time expired.
The Tigers now prep for a hone-and-home with first-place Quinnipiac that sees the two teams meet in Hamden on February 13 (7 p.m.) before returning to Baker Rink the next day for a 4 p.m. puck drop.
Jaxson Ezman, David Jacobs, Jake Manfre and Luc Pelletier each had a goal and an assist for Princeton while Brendan Gorman added the other goal.
The win is the 11th on home ice for the Tigers this season, tied for the third-most wins at Hobey Baker Rink in program history alongside the 1932-33 and 2006-07 teams. Only the 2008-09 (13) and 1931-32 (12) teams have won more games on home ice than the current squad.Tip Drill!

Luc Pelletier opened the scoring with 7:00 to play in the first period, ending a 12-game drought by finishing off a set play following his own faceoff win deep in the Brown zone. After Pelletier won the draw to Drew Garzone, Jayden Sison took a quick drop pass down the right wall before funneling a centering pass towards the Brown net that Pelletier steered home.Luc Lights The Lamp!
