No. 19/20 Men's Hockey Rallies Past RPI, 5-2
January 09, 2026 | Men's Ice Hockey
A nearly 22-minute delay due to structural issues on the RPI bench after warmups led to a slow start for the Tigers who did not score until past the midway mark of the game and had to erase a RPI lead through two periods.
The third was all Princeton as the Orange and Black scored four times en route to the victory.
The comeback win maintained a stellar start to 2025-26 for the Tigers.
- It extended the program-record win streak in home games to start a season to nine, in the process continuing the nation's longest-active overall home winning streak.
- It extended Princeton's overall win streak to six, the second-longest active streak in the country (North Dakota; 8 entering tonight)
- It extended Princeton's ECAC win streak to seven, the longest active conference-play winning streak in the country.
- It completed the first season sweep of the Engineers for the Tigers since the 2017-28 season.
Julian Facchinelli and Brendan Gorman each had two-goal games, while David Jacobs had a goal and two assists. Kai Daniells and Jaxson Ezman each had two-assist games to give the Tigers five players with multi-point games.
For Facchinelli, the two-goal evening is the first multi-goal game of his career while Gorman's two-goal night is the fourth of his career.
Gorman moves into the No. 30 spot in Princeton's all-time scoring list with 33 goals and 51 assists for 84 points. Jacobs slides into the No. 46 spot all-time with 69 points with 18 goals and 51 assists. Kai Daniells is now also inside the Top-100 scorers in the history of Princeton Hockey at No. 99 with 23 goals and 25 assists for 48 points.Fast on his feet!

Arthur Smith stopped 20 shots, including eight in the third period.
The Tigers were 1-for-3 on the power play, and killed off RPI's only man advantage of the night.
RPI broke the scoreless tie 1:20 into the second period when Luciano Wilson sped open on a breakaway following a long stretch pass from Gunnar Vandamme to give the Engineers a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers evened the score 7:31 into the middle period when Brendan Gorman took a saucer pass from David Jacobs on a 2-on-1 and roofed it over Krawchuk for his eighth goal of the season.
The Engineers regained the lead just past the midway mark of the second via Wilson's second of the night as RPI capitalized on a Princeton turnover inside their own blue line.
Julian Facchinelli netted the equalizer for the Tigers 4:07 into the third with a nifty backhand finish on a breakaway for his third goal of the season. Jaxson Ezman picked up the assist after stripping a RPI defender of the puck and springing Facchinelli free.
Just under three minutes later, Facchinelli was instrumental in the Tigers taking the lead as he forechecked a loose puck away from RPI defenders behind the Engineer net and flipped a puck toward the net that a RPI player knocked into his own net to give Princeton a 3-2 lead with 13:02 to play.
Brendan Gorman swatted in a power-play goal with 8:36 to play to give the Tigers a 4-2 lead. He worked in from his spot on the bumper, getting to the rebound of a Kai Daniells one-timer off the post and pumping it into the open net.Back to back!
