Saylor Milone goal celebration vs. Temple

October 04, 2026 | Field Hockey

Box Score

It's impossible to know exactly how many yards Princeton's Anna Faulstich ran with the ball on her field hockey stick Sunday afternoon against Temple. Let's guess. Three hundred? Somewhere around there?

What did the stats offer? Nothing. She didn't have any. What she did have was the satisfaction of knowing that she made as big a contribution to Princeton's 3-0 win over the Owls on a rainy Senior Day at Bedford Field.

The Tigers honored their five seniors — Lydia Bills, Olivia Caponiti, Ella Cashman, Hope Delaney, Ottilie Sykes — with a pregame celebration in the team room and then on the field, as well as a postgame reception.

The party wouldn't have been the same had the game not gone well. Princeton and Temple, by the way, were playing for the first time since 1992 and second time since 1984.

Faulstich's long, winding runs were things of beauty. They also set up two of Princeton's three goals by drawing penalty corners, which were cashed in first by Clem Houlden and then by Ottilie Sykes, both in the second quarter.

We're at 2-0 at the break, thanks to Clem and Ott. https://t.co/3ZUlTIkFsx

Goal No. 3 came after Sykes drove a long pass into the circle, where Saylor Milone tipped it into the cage. Milone now has four goals in the six games since she returned from a preseason injury, while Sykes finished off a four-goal, one-assist week.

Princeton improved to 6-4 with a second-straight win after a three-game losing streak, all in shootouts, all to teams ranked in the top eight.

The Tigers will host Dartmouth Friday and then No. 1 Northwestern Sunday in a rematch of last year's NCAA championship game.
