October 05, 2026 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. – Roka Tsunehara was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Left-back Tsunehara put up a career performance on Saturday in Princeton's first Ivy League win of the year over Yale.
After conceding early, Tsunehara led the Tigers to a come-from-behind 2-1 win, tallying an assist in the equalizer and scoring the game-winner on a penalty kick.
When not on the attack, Tsunehara was also clinical on defense, helping the Tigers not concede after the first five minutes as they picked up a key conference victory.
It marked the first three-point game of Tsunehara's career. His goal was his second of the year, and his second PK of the year as well.
He now ranks second in the Ivy League with four assists on the season.
It is Tsunehara's second time earning Player of the Week honors in his career, and first this season.
Tsunehara and the Tigers will be back in action tomorrow as they close out their non-conference action with a trip to Hofstra. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Hempstead, N.Y.
