Softball Team Tops Ivy Preseason Poll
February 11, 2026 | Softball
If the forecasters are correct, the Princeton softball team will be celebrating a fifth straight Ivy League title this spring.
In the preseason poll announced on Wednesday, the Tigers finished with 14 of the 16 first-place votes and 126 poll points. Harvard received two first-place votes and 110 points to stand second, while Columbia (85 poll points), Brown (76), Dartmouth (71), Yale (48), Cornell (44) and Penn (16) completed the poll.
Princeton is on a run of four straight Ivy titles, just the second streak of at least that length in league history, along with a seven-title run by Princeton from 1983-89.Â
Reigning Ivy League Pitcher of the Year Brielle Wright is back for her senior season, leading five of the team's six 2025 first-team All-Ivy honorees who return, including Sonia Zhang (3B), Julia Dumais (SS), Braeden Hale (utility) and Karis Ford (DP). Second-team pitcher Cassidy Shaw is back, as is honorable mention Graciela Dominguez (2B) giving Princeton seven returning 2025 All-Ivy Leaguers. Graduated from Princeton's 2025 all-league honorees are outfielder Allison Ha, a four-time All-Ivy Leaguer, three-time All-Ivy outfielder Lauren Sablone, 2025 honorable mention All-Ivy catcher Lauren Pappert. Along with Wright and Shaw, who accounted for 235 2/3 of the team's 301 1/3 innings pitched, Princeton returns sophomore Keala Hollenkamp, who was third on the team with 43 2/3 innings pitched.
The Tigers will get the season going this weekend with five games in Jacksonville, Fla., while the Ivy title defense will begin March 21 at Cynthia Lynn Paul '94 Field with a visit from Cornell.
