Princeton Softball Selected to NCAA Stillwater Regional
May 10, 2026 | Softball
For the 13th time in program history, the Princeton softball team is headed to the NCAA tournament.
Princeton was selected to the Stillwater Regional, where the Tigers will open against Stanford on Friday at 2 p.m. ET on the ACC Network and the ESPN App. Host Oklahoma State will follow against Eastern Illinois in the double-elimination regional format with games continuing Saturday and the regional final on Sunday, May 17.
The Tigers, who are 33-13 this season in piling up their most wins since 2006, won the Ivy League title, the 24th in program history, at 18-3 in the league, tying the Ivy record for most league wins in a season, and won the Ivy League Tournament title, their second since the tournament began in 2023, sweeping through with a 3-0 record and outscoring their opponents 21-6.Â
The NCAA berth is Princeton's third in the last five years, a run that has seen Princeton win the Ivy League title every year since the full return from the pandemic pause in 2022.
It'll be the first time since 2008 that Princeton will have opened against an opponent other than the top-seeded team in the regional, but that year, the Tigers opened against the host team nonetheless, with Stanford as the 12th overall seed but UMass as the host. Princeton ended its season that year in an elimination game against Lehigh, where Lisa Sweeney threw a complete-game victory for the Mountain Hawks. Five years later, Sweeney, now Lisa Van Ackeren, became Princeton's head coach, since guiding the team to seven Ivy League titles and five NCAA tournament bids.
