Men's Hockey Denied By No. 5/5 Quinnipiac, 4-1
February 15, 2026 | Men's Ice Hockey
For the second night in a row, Princeton was unable to mount a third-period rally and a 2-1 deficit become a 4-1 final as the Tigers lost to No. 5/5 Quinnipiac.
David Ma scored for the Tigers with assists to Luc Pelletier and Jake Manfre.
Arthur Smith made 21 saves for Princeton while Dylan Silverstein also had 21 for the Bobcats.
Both teams were 3-for-4 on the penalty kill, including a full five-minute major killed by the Tigers.
After a scoreless first period, Quinnipiac opened the scoring 3:12 into the second via a Matthew McGroarty goal that picked the top corner off a Bobcat rush in transition.
The Tigers answered just under two minutes later via a power-play goal from David Ma that started with a gritty effort from Luc Pelletier to fight for a faceoff win and funnel a feed to Ma at the point where he quickly roofed home his third goal of the season at the 5:10 mark of the second.
Alex Power would give the Bobcats back the lead with a nice deflection of a Nate Tivey shot 6:27 into the period, sneaking free in the high slot and getting a stick on a puck waist-high and redirecting it through Smith's pads.
The Bobcats applied pressure throughout the first half of the third period, eventually drawing a Princeton penalty and capitalizing when Antonin Verreault clanged a wrister off the far post and in to give Quinnipiac a 3-1 lead with 11:00 to play in the third.
The Tigers pulled their goalie with just over three minutes to play, and Wyttenbach fired a shot three-quarters of the length of the ice to provide the final insurance tally for the Bobcats.
Princeton had a chance to find a rally immediately afrter that goal as Wyttenbach was called for an unsportsmanline conduct penalty during his celebration and the Bobcats' bench was then whistled for a second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to give the Tigers a 5-on-3 3 with 3:09 to play but Princeton was unable to find the back of the net.
The Tigers host Colgate (February 20) and Cornell (February 21) at Hobey Baker Rink for a pair of 7 p.m. puckdrops to conclude the home portion of the regular season.
