Softball Completes Florida Weekend With Win Over Iona
February 15, 2026 | Softball
Taking four of five on the season's opening weekend, the Princeton softball team closed their trip to Florida on Sunday with a 7-5 win over Iona on Sunday at the UNF Softball Complex.
Princeton jumped in front immediately, scoring four times in the first inning. After singles from Julia Dumais and Graciela Dominguez put traffic on the bases, Sonia Zhang brought home the first run with a groundout before Mia Valenzuela launched a three-run homer to center to make it 4-0.
Iona answered with three in the bottom half, but the Tigers came right back. Dumais tripled and scored on Dominguez's RBI single in the second, then Princeton added two more in the fourth. Dominguez drove in Camryn Bradshaw, and Braeden Hale followed with an RBI single to stretch the advantage to 7-3.
Dominguez finished with three hits and two RBIs, Hale had two hits and drove in a run, and Valenzuela's first-inning blast accounted for three RBI.
In the circle, Hollenkamp worked three innings in relief and allowing two runs while striking out three to earn the victory. Uehara handled the final two outs for the save.
Princeton will head to North Carolina for five next weekend against Appalachian State, North Carolina Central, host UNC, and Rider.
