About the Tigers
- Princeton is coming off a 3-0 road loss to FDU on Friday.
- Owen Mellon led the Tigers with nine kills for .222 hitting. Ethan Wells was behind him, tallying seven kills with one error of 10 swings for .600.
- Before that, the Tigers dropped a close home series against #14 Penn State, which saw the Tigers force five sets after being down 2-0 on Friday night in a solid comeback effort. Ultimately, though, the Nittany Lions took both matches.
- Ambrose Engling led the Tigers with 24 kills on the weekend after entering in set three on Friday. With eight errors on 57 swings, Engling hit .281.
- Now averaging .241, Engling ranks 10th in the EIVA in the stat.
- Roan Alviar had a solid performance defensively, tallying 11 digs as he came up in clutch moments for the Tigers at libero.
- Averaging 3.37 kills a set, Mellon leads the Tigers and ranks fourth in the EIVA. He also ranks fourth in points (3.88/s). Mellon had a red-hot start for the Tigers, recording double figures in each of the first three games of the season. For his career-high 20 kills and .417 hitting against #5 USC, Mellon was named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 19.
- Whitfield's 1.00 blocks per set mark a squad-high and put him sixth in the EIVA.
- Nolan Kelly has led the Tigers in assists, averaging 8.10 a set. He also leads the squad and ranks second in the EIVA in digs with 2.10/s.
- Princeton was picked to finish fourth in the EIVA preseason poll, with Mason Rice and Ryan Vena named players to watch.
- Princeton kicked off preseason with a trip to Canada, where the Tigers took home two exhibition wins over McMaster and TMU.
- Last year, the Tigers won the EIVA regular season championship. Ultimately, they fell to Penn State in the EIVA tournament finals.
- The Tigers are led by Head Coach Sam Shweisky, in his 17th year. He is assisted by Joe Norton, in his third.
About Dominican
- The Chargers are 4-10 on the season, most recently downing D'Youville 3-1 on Saturday after dropping a close 3-2 match to Daemen on Friday.
- Phinehas Wiley leads Dominican with 4.12 kills per set, alongside a hitting percentage of .283. Helping, Seth Terry has 8.89 assists a set to his credit.
