About The Tigers
- Princeton most recently dropped two hard-fought contests to Sacred Heart at home in Dillon last weekend.
- Tristan Whitfield tallied a strong performance on the weekend, hitting .591 with 13 kills and a total of nine blocks on the weekend.
- For his efforts, Whitfield was named EIVA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
- Princeton, 1-7 in league play, currently sits at the bottom of the EIVA standings, behind Harvard with a record of 3-7. Six of the seven teams in the league will make the EIVA Tournament on April 22-25, with the first seed hosting.
- Earlier this season, Princeton picked up a ranked win over #12 UC San Diego in a five-set thriller. The Tiger defense shined against UCSD, with Kelly making six blocks and nine digs for team-highs. Mellon and Andrew Werner led on offense with 12 and nine kills apiece, respectively.
- Mellon leads the Tigers in kills, averaging 3.31 a set for fifth in the EIVA. Mellon tallied a career high 25 kills against Dominican on Feb. 28, marking his second of the season after he first made 20 kills against #5 USC in January.
- Kelly has been clutch for the Tigers, ranking third in the EIVA in digs with an average of 1.91 a set. He also ranks fifth in assists, tallying 7.94/s.
- Whitfield's 1.00 blocks a set rank fourth in the EIVA.
- Princeton was picked to finish fourth in the EIVA preseason poll, with Mason Rice and Vena named players to watch.
- Last year, the Tigers won the EIVA regular season championship. Ultimately, they fell to Penn State in the EIVA tournament finals.
- The Tigers are led by Head Coach Sam Shweisky, in his 17th year. He is assisted by Joe Norton, in his third.
About George Mason
- George Mason is 18-7 on the year and 6-2 in EIVA play, ranking second in the standings. It is coming off a sweep of Harvard last weekend, taking both matches 3-0.
- Aidan Weltin leads the EIVA in kills with 3.97 a set. He is also second in the league in aces, averaging 0.36/s.
- Georgi Zahariev also leads the EIVA in assists with 9.96/s.
- Alexander Lillie leads the Patriots defensively, ranking third in the EIVA with 1.05 blocks a set.
