Lessig Helps United States Qualify For WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup Finals

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Sarah Lessig and the United States Women's Baseball Team qualified for the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Finals.
The United States went 5-0 in its stage, outscoring its opponents, 102-12. The team started off action with a 22-2 win over Korea before adding wins over Mexico (24-5), Australia (10-5), Canada (12-0) and Hong Kong (34-0).
The World Cup Finals will take place in July of 2027. Japan won the most recent title in 2024.
Lessig appeared in two games as a hitter, going 1-for-2 with a run scored and made two appearances on the mound, striking out seven in three innings. She collected a save vs. Korea and picked up the win vs. Hong Kong.
The rising sophomore appeared in 13 games for the basketball team, helping the squad to an Ivy League regular season and tournament championship. She later joined the softball team, working her way into 14 games as a pinch runner, scoring seven runs, helping that group to an Ivy regular season and tournament title as well.
