Princeton qualified for the 1998 NCAA Tournament when it defeated
Clarkson in double-overtime of the ECAC Championship game. Princeton
drew a match-up with Michigan at the West Regional. Princeton was seeded
sixth and met up with third-seeded Michigan in Michigan's home arena in
Ann Arbor.
Michigan outshot Princeton 15-8 in the opening period as Erasmo Saltarelli kept the Wolverines off the board and Michigan goalie Marty Turco stymied the Tigers. Michigan scored midway through the second on the power play to take a 1-0 lead by the Tigers answered late in the period on a goal from Jeff Halpern to send it to the second intermission deadlocked at 1-1. Michigan would regain the lead in the first minute of the third period on a Mark Kosick's goal. Kosick held the puck in the Princeton zone and sent a centering pass that deflected off a Princeton skate into the back of the Princeton net. Turco would stop all seven Princeton shots after that to secure a 2-1 win for his team, which would go on to capture the 1998 National Championship. |

Princeton earned its second NCAA Tournament appearance when it defeated Harvard to win the 2008 ECAC Hockey Tournament. Princeton was placed in the Midwest Regional in Madison, Wis., and drew the region's top seed, North Dakota in the opening round of the tournament. The Tigers would go on to double up North Dakota in shots, but fell behind midway through the first when North Dakota netted a power-play goal. Ryan Duncan would go on to net a hat trick for the Fighting Sioux as North Dakota went on to a 5-1 win. The Sioux would win the regional and advance to the Frozen Four. Cam MacIntyre netted Princeton's lone goal in the final minute of the game off an assist from Lee Jubinville. |

Princeton claimed its first-ever at-large berth to the NCAA
Tournament field in the 2009 season and did it with a tie against St.
Lawrence in the ECAC consolation game. Princeton was a three-seed in the
tournament and would meet second-seed Minnesota-Duluth at the West
Regional at Minnesota's Mariucci Arena.
The Bulldogs scored the first goal, but three straight Princeton goals from Brett Wilson, Derrick Pallis and Wilson again gave Princeton a two-goal lead in the second period. Duluth trimmed the lead to a goal entering the final period, but Brandan Kushniruk scored shorthanded midway through the third to give Princeton a 4-2 lead. The goal only set up the dramatics for Minnesota Duluth as the Bulldogs would scored two goals in the final minute with the goalie pulled to force overtime. Mike Connolly would eventually score a power-play goal in overtime as the Bulldogs edged the Tigers 5-4. |
