Isabella Garces scored a pair of late first-half goals less than five minutes apart as the Princeton women's soccer team turned in its second shutout in as many home games this season, defeating James Madison 2-0 on Sunday at Roberts Stadium.

Three games into the new season, Garces, a senior, has three of the team's five goals, and she's one goal away from tying her career high for goals in a season, set in 2024 with four goals as a sophomore.

With less than seven minutes to go in the first half, Garces took control of a loose ball just ahead of the 18, moved past two JMU defenders and fired it home to get Princeton on the board. With just more than two minutes before the break, Garces finished a crossing pass from Kayla Wong, putting the Tigers up 2-0. Sophomore Anna Chau had her first career point on the second goal, sending the pass into the 18 for Wong to cross.

Cecilia Cerone and Sydney Romano split halves in goal for the Tigers as Princeton outshot JMU 16-4 overall and 8-2 on goal, with Romano making both saves after the break.

Now 2-1 on the season, Princeton will head out on a Big Ten road trip, first to Ohio State on Thursday before making the trip to Piscataway to take on Rutgers on Sunday.
