Pre-Ivy Finale Sees Women's Soccer Draw Villanova
September 20, 2026 | Women's Soccer
Dylan Jovanovic scored just the second goal against Villanova in the Wildcats' eight games on the season during the Tigers' trip to the Main Line on Sunday, but a late first-half goal evened things up for Villanova on the way to a 1-1 tie in Princeton's last contest before Ivy League play begins.
Just more than 10 minutes into the game, Jovanovic received a pass upfield from Stella Monberg and threaded a shot through three Villanova defenders and Wildcat keeper Hannah Dickinson inside the left post to put the Tigers on top. But, with less than four minutes to go in the first half, Villanova's Dez Zapata received pass from teammate Isabella Chukwu after Chukwu won a ball near midfield, sending it in to tie the game.
That's where it ended after the teams finished tied 11-11 in overall shots. Cecilia Cerone played the first half between the posts for Princeton, stopping three shots on goal, while Villanova didn't put a shot on goal in the second half while Sydney Romano was in net.
Villanova outscored its first six opponents a combined 23-0 before allowing a goal for the first time this season in a 2-1 win over Delaware on Thursday.Â
Princeton will open Ivy League play on Saturday when Harvard visits for a 4 p.m. start for High School and Youth Day.
