Former Princeton standout Pietra Tordin has earned her first call-up to the U.S. Women's National Team, with head coach Emma Hayes inviting Tordin to the team's October training camp ahead of two matches against Spain.
Tordin, now in her second season with the Portland Thorns, is among the uncapped players selected for the 26-player roster. The U.S. will face reigning FIFA Women's World Cup champion Spain on Oct. 10 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., and Oct. 13 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pa.
The senior national team invitation is the latest step in Tordin's extensive career with U.S. Soccer. She was part of the U.S. team that earned the bronze medal at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, leading the Americans with four goals, including a hat trick against Paraguay. Tordin was also invited to the USWNT Futures Camp in January 2025 and participated in U.S. U-23 training camps earlier this year.
Tordin played three seasons at Princeton before beginning her professional career with Portland. She was a three-time All-Ivy League honoree, the 2024 Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year and a 2023 United Soccer Coaches third-team All-American. Tordin finished her Princeton career seventh in program history with 30 goals and ninth with 71 points.
Since signing with the Portland Thorns following her junior season at Princeton, she was twice named NWSL Rookie of the Month during the 2025 season. Tordin has taken another step forward in 2026, recording seven goals and nine assists in 26 appearances, including 25 starts. Tordin became the youngest player in Thorns history to record a hat trick with a three-goal performance against Boston in August. Portland signed Tordin to a multi-year contract extension in July that will keep her with the club through the 2029 season.
