Dan Carson is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Princeton men's lacrosse program. Among his other responsibilities, Carson works with the face-off unit, will run the substitution box on gamedays and oversee the team's social media efforts.
Carson came to Princeton from Richmond, where he helped the Spiders to a perfect regular season in the Southern Conferencein 2015. While at Richmond, Carson helped the team go from a .362 face-off winning percentage in its first year in Division I in 2014 to within two won face-offs of .500 in 2015.
Carson also helped Richmond to the No. 2 scoring defense and man-down defense in Division I. In fact, with the addition of Steve Grossi from St. Joe's to the staff earlier, Princeton now has new assistant coaches from the No. 1 and No. 2 man-down defenses from 2015.
Prior to spending a year at Richmond, Carson was the head coach at Grove City College, where he was named the CCLA Division II Coach of the Year after an 11-5 record and a spot in the MCLA D-II quarterfinals in 2014. He has also coached at Ohio Valley University, where he earned his master's degree, and Yorktown High School in Virginia, the high school he attended.
Carson is a 2012 graduate of Marymount College, where he scored 63 goals and had 98 points as a four-year starting attackman in lacrosse while also lettering three times in swimming and serving as team captain for both sports.
He graduated with a bachelor's degree in history.
