Went 8-3 as a sophomore playing in the middle of the Princeton lineup … earned arguably the biggest win of the regular season, a 3-2 win at No. 5 against Harvard that helped Princeton clinch a share of the Ivy League title; he overcame a 7-0 deficit in the fifth game to win the match … went 2-1 in the national team championships, including a win over Yale … ended sophomore season ranked No. 22 in the country … overcame illness early as freshman to become one of Princeton’s most reliable players at the end of the season … ended his year by winning 10 of 11 matches, including all five to win the CSA individual championship Malloy Division (players ranked from 33-64); Yu won 15 of 16 games in the tournament, which included a 3-0 win in the final … also earned wins against Yale in the Potter Cup third-place match and in a near-upset of 2005 finalist Harvard; both were 3-0 victories … had the unenviable role of replacing Will Evans ’03 as Princeton’s No. 2 player as a freshman but did a commendable job with a trio of Ivy League wins and another in the national team championships.
