"I am excited to welcome Sarah to the Princeton softball family," Salcido said in announcing Willis. "Her experience as a player and coach will be a great addition to our staff. We look forward to having her guide our pitchers and enhance our outfield. Her knowledge of the game and passion for teaching will combine to make an immediate impact on our program."
Willis serves as the team's pitching coach and top assistant under Salcido.
Willis was a regular part of the Red Raider pitching staff from 2005-2008, finishing her career with 22 wins in 113 appearances including 38 starts, striking out 298 batters.
An accomplished student, Willis completed her bachelor's degree in psychology at Texas Tech in 2008 and began on her master's degree in exercise and sport sciences, which she plans to complete in the summer of 2010.
As an undergraduate, Willis was a regular presence on Texas Tech dean's and president's honor lists while also earning a place on the Big 12 All-Academic Team in 2007, the year she had the highest GPA of any female athlete at the school.
Since completing her year as a student assistant coach at Texas Tech, Willis has served as a teaching assistant while working on her graduate degree and staying in softball as a private coach.
