This Week's Note of the Week Zero tolerance — Princeton has shut out Lafayette in each of the last two meetings between the teams (1998, 1995). Five more notes no media person should be without Highly offensive — Princeton has scored 57 points in its last two games after scoring three points in its first two games.
Enough already — Princeton has faced Cornell's Ricky Rahne (fifth in Division I-AA in total offense), Brown's James Perry (seventh in Division I-AA in total offense) and Lehigh's Phil Stambaugh (second in Division I-AA in passing efficiency) in its three losses.
Phil it up — Phil Wendler ranks third in Division I-AA in receptions per game (7.75). He trails fellow Ivy Leaguers Steve Campbell of Brown (his high school teammate) and Joe Splendorio of Cornell.
More Phil — Phil Wendler had his second career double-figure reception game in last week's game against Brown (11 receptions, 124 yards). No other Princeton player has had one game of at least 10 receptions since Judd Garrett in 1988.
Still more Phil — Phil Wendler has at least six receptions in every game this year.
Others receiving votes Even more Phil — Phil Wendler has 31 receptions, every other Princeton player combined has 32 receptions.
Having your fill of Phil — Phil Wendler is tied for sixth all-time at Princeton with 81 career receptions. He needs 15 to move into a tie for fifth.
Not quite done with Phil — Phil Wendler has 31 receptions in four games this year after having 30 all of last year.
A little more Phil — Phil Wendler has four career 100-yard receiving days, no other Tiger wide receiver since Marc Ross in 1993 has one.
No more Phil, for now — Princeton is 19 for 36 in third-down conversions the last two weeks after going 5 for 24 in the first two games.
Quarterly report — Princeton has been outscored 45-7 in its four second quarters.
Passing fancy — Jon Blevins has a passing effficency rating of 157.02, which would rank 14th nationally if he had enough attempts.
Change of scenery — Princeton has six players on its two-deep who began their careers on the other side of the ball. Of these six, only guard Ross Tucker made the move from defense to offense. The other five: Ryan Demler, Paul Simbi, Kyle Brandt, Gerry Giurato, Nick Freitag.
D plus — Princeton has five shutouts in its last 16 games.
In a rush — Derek Theisen and Cameron Atkinson have combined for 359 yards on 88 carries, an average of 4.1 per attempt.
Sack daddy — David Ferrara is Princeton's career leader with 25.5 sacks.
Getting his kicks — Thomas Pohl punted twice for a 50.5-yard average against Fordham. His second punt was 61 yards, four off the Princeton Stadium record held by Matt Evans.
Center of attention — Bernie Marczyk has started 28 straight games at center for Princeton.
Guard of attention — Hamin Abdullah has started 27 games at guard for Princeton, dating to his freshman year.
Sharing the wealth — Princeton has eight players with between 19 and 25 tackles.
Leading the way — Princeton has not had the lead at any point of its three losses. Princeton had the lead for the final 54:10 in its win against Fordham.
Injury update — Freshman Shane Stevenson, who had been the nickel back and on most special teams, will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL against Fordham. Kevin Kongslie, another freshman, will see increased playing time in Stevenson's place.
Tight-rope — Since the start of the 1994 season, Princeton has attempted 1,172 passes. Of those, a total of 29 have been completed to the tight end.
Catching on — Princeton has had 12 different receivers catch at least one pass in the first three games. Of the 12, seven have either one or two receptions.
Sounding like a broken record — Brown's James Perry set records for an opponent against Princeton with 42 completions and 62 attempts last week, breaking his own records set the previous year of 33 and 60. He was 11 yards away from tying his record for passing yards against Princeton, with 431 in last week's game and 442 in last year's game.
More records — Jon Blevins completed his first nine passes against Brown after throwing an incompletion in his last pass of his previous game. The record for consecutive completions in a game at Princeton is 13, by Mark Lockenmeyer against Maine in 1980.
One of those days — The 53 points Princeton allowed to Brown were the most ever scored against Princeton by an Ivy League opponent.
More days — The 53 points Princeton allowed to Brown were the most since Princeton allowed 55 to Maine in 1981. Maine's offensive coordinator in that game was Steve Tosches.
Cameron crazy — Cameron Atkinson has three rushing touchdowns in the last two games.
Young guns — Princeton used four freshmen on its kick coverage team against Brown: Andy Bryant, Paul Simbi, Nate Lindell and Kevin Kongslie.
Patriot games — Princeton is 6-5 in its last 11 games against the Patriot League after winning 11 of its previous 12.
Last Phil — Phil Wendler has at least one reception in 13 straight games.
All right, one more Phil — Phil Wendler and Brown's Steve Campbell, high school teammates outside Seattle, combined for 24 receptions for 274 yards in last week's game.
