CENTERVILLE, MASS. - Princeton sophomore goalkeeper Jon Pharris (Newport Harbor, Calif.,) and freshman hole-set Kevin Foster (Davis, Calif.) were named this week's ECAC Goalkeeper and Player of the Week, respectively.
Foster enjoyed a tremendous week, netting 16 goals in four games to help Princeton to a 4-0 mark at the North-South Invitational. A native of Davis, Calif., Foster registered back-to-back seven-goal games against Iona and Queens. Against Queens, Foster scored seven of the Tigers' nine goals, including two in the fourth quarter that secured the 9-6 triumph. In a 6-4 Tigers' victory over St. Francis, the No. 1 team in the East, Foster tallied a fourth-quarter goal to give the Tigers a two-goal lead with one minute remaining.
Along with his ECAC honor, Pharris was also named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Player of the Week. At the North-South Invitational in Princeton, he led the Tigers to a perfect 4-0 record over the three-day event, and improved Princeton to 12-1 overall. During the Tigers' game against St. Francis, the top team in the East, he limited the Red Flash to only four goals and did not give up a goal in the third and fourth quarters. In the Sunday game against Queens—the only team to defeat Princeton this year— he allowed only six total goals and tallied nine saves. Pharris wrapped up the weekend versus Harvard, giving up a single goal and making eight saves.
