PRINCETON, N.J - The Princeton men's water polo team suffered its first loss of the season this morning, as Queens topped the Tigers 11-10 on the final day of the 1999 Princeton Invitational at DeNunzio Pool.
Both teams battled tooth and nail through the entire game, with Queens holding its biggest lead at 7-4. The Tigers outscored Queens in the final period, but missed several scoring opportunities, including a four-meter by Marshall Roslyn (So., Philadelphia, Pa.) that left Princeton with the one-point loss.
The Tigers were led by junior Chris Gratian (Modesto, Calif.) and freshman Robert Urquhart (Ann Arbor, Mich.), each scoring two goals. Goalkeepers Jon Pharris (So., Newport Beach, Calif.) and Greg Stoll (Sr., Lake Forrest, Calif.) split time in net, combining for 14 saves.
Princeton is now 5-1, 2-0 CWPA on the year and will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 25, as it participates in CWPA League play at Bucknell.
