Tigers Pick Up Trio Of Victories On The Road

LEWISBURG, P.A. - The Princeton men's water polo team won three games this weekend as it participated in CWPA League action at Bucknell. The Tigers began the weekend with a 26-10 win over Salem-Teikyo and a 14-13 overtime victory over the host Bison on Saturday. Princeton finished off the weekend with a 14-3 win against Slippery Rock on Sunday morning.
The biggest game of the weekend came against Bucknell, which is currently ranked 18th in the Men's Collegiate Poll. The No. 14 Tigers were down 5-1 at halftime and 12-6 going into the fourth quarter, before Princeton scored seven unanswered goals in the final seven minutes to send the game to overtime. The Tigers scored two goals in the extra session, including the game winner by Kevin Foster (Fr., Davis, Calif.), to come away with the 14-13 win.
The Tigers were led by junior Chris Gratian (Modesto, Calif.), who tallied six goals in the win over the Bison. Foster had five goals, including the game winner. Goalkeeper Greg Stoll (Sr., Lake Forrest, Calif.) played the second half and the overtime session in net, recording 12 saves.
In their final game of the weekend, the Tigers got a four-goal performance from Drew Jones (Jr., Palos Verdes, Calif.) and Stoll tallied three points from the field as the Tigers defeated Slippery Rock 14-3. Princeton also got goals from Robert Urquhart (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Forrest Christo (Jr., Davis, Calif.) and Charlie Wood (Sr., Pasadena, Calif.).
Princeton is now 8-1, 5-0 CWPA on the year and will return to action on Friday, Oct. 1, as it hosts the North-South Invitational at DeNunzio Pool.
