Tonight's Note of the Night Repeat performance — A win today would give the Tigers their second of the season. Princeton picked up its second win of the 1998-99 season on Dec. 2 against Lafayette.
Five more notes no fan should be without Drawing even — Lafayette holds a 14-13 advantage in the all-time series, with the Leopards winning seven of the last 10 meetings. The Tigers are 2-2 against Lafayette under Lix Feeley.
Career night — Not only did the Tigers pick up their first win of the season against Ohio, but senior Brooke Lockwood and junior Jessica Munson set new career highs in scoring. Lockwood hit four of six attempts from the floor and added four free throws for 12 points. Munson connected on three field goals and was a perfect 6 for 6 from the charity stripe for 13 points.
Climbing the ladder — Seniors Kate Thirolf and Maggie Langlas are on pace to become the 12th and 13th players to reach the 1,000-point plateau. With 54 points so far this season, Thirolf stands with 942 career points, 11 behind Langlas, who has scored 59 points this year.
Spreading the wealth — In five games this season, the Tigers have had four different leading scorers and three different leading rebounders. Maggie Langlas headed the team in scoring against Delaware and Ohio, while Kate Thirolf swiped the most boards in the three home games.
Spreading the wealth II — In Saturday's game against Arkansas, 12 Tigers saw action, with nine recording at least one point.
Others receiving votes Gotta have the free ones — After shooting 34 of 65 (.523) from the free-throw line in the first three games, Princeton hit 20 of 25 (.800) in the win over the Bobcats. Four Tigers were perfect from the charity stripe, including Maggie Langlas, who all five attempts from the line.
Control freak — Kate Thirolf has a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio this season. She ileads the team with 16 assists and seven steals.
Bombs away — Langlas entered her senior year in third place all-time at Princeton with 136 career three-pointers. After hitting nine this season, Langlas trailes Kim Allen '97 by 23 for second place.
What about me? — Right on the heels of Langlas is classmate Kate Thirolf, who ranks fourth in career three-pointers with 134. She ranks third in career attempts with 447, 69 ahead of Langlas.
Sonic youth — At one point during the game against Arkansas, Princeton had four freshmen and one sophomore on the floor.
Sonic youth II — The Leopards have an abundance of youth on this year's squad, boasting five freshman and two sophomores on a 10-member roster. The lone junior, Samaiyah Council, holds sophomore eligibility.
Rookie no more — After scoring two points in 23 minutes in five games a year ago, sophomore Shani Moore has tallied 35 points in 95 minutes through the first five games of the 1999-2000 campaign.
Magnificant Mo — Freshman Maureen Lane had her best overall game against Ohio, recording nine points, two steals and two assists without committing a turnover in 23 minutes of play.
Windex — Lauren Rigney, who is the only sophomore to start every game this season, pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds in a losing effort at Delaware.
Minute woman — Jessica Munson leads the team in minutes played with 175. The junior played all but one minute against Lehigh and is averaging better than 35 minutes each contest.
Chi-town delight — After tonight's game the Tigers will head west for a pair of games at the Roger L. White Invitational hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. Princeton faces the host Wildcats on Friday and will meet either Miami-Ohio or New Hampshire on Saturday.
Come on back now, ya hear — The Tigers will return to Jadwin Gym on Saturday, Nov. 11, to take on Siena. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on RCN Cable.
Tonight the Tigers hope to get back to their winning ways, as they host Patriot League member Lafayette. Princeton split a pair of games at the 1999 Friends of Princeton Basketball Invitational last weekend at Jadwin Gym. The Orange and Black picked up its first win of the season with a 69-63 victory over the Ohio Bobcats in the opening round, sending the Tigers into the title game against SEC-power Arkansas, who advanced to the championship game with an 88-77 win over UNC Wilmington. The Lady Razorbacks proved to be too strong, pulling away in the second half for an 87-45 win. After tonight's contest, the Tigers will head west to participate in the Roger L. White Invitational, hosted by Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
Lafayette (0-3, 0-0 Patriot) Four games into the 1999-2000 season, the Leopards are still searching for their first win after a trio of road losses, including an 87-43 decision at Georgetown on Saturday. Lafayette lost its only November game in the Kirby Sports Center on Monday, when the Leopards fell to Delaware 86-50. Head coach Pat Fisher enters her 20th season at the helm, and her 281 victories are the most by any coach in the program's history. Fisher, who led the team to the 1997 Patriot League title game, is hoping this year's squad can improve on a disappointing 8-20 campaign a year ago. The Leopards are led by senior co-captains Katie Miller and Sara Harris. Miller leads the team in scoring with a 12.3 points per game average, including two 15-point performances this season. Harris tops the list with 12 assists and nine steals. She is nearly perfect from the free-throw line, hitting eight of nine attempts.
