PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton's Kate Thirolf (Jr., Rockville, Md.) scored a season-high 21 points to lead the Tigers to a 68-48 win over Columbia in only their third game at Jadwin Gym this season.
The Lions led 2-0 before Princeton went on a 13-1 run to open a 13-3 lead nine minutes into the game. Leading 23-15, the Tigers outscored Columbia 11-2 over the final 3:04 to take a 34-17 advantage into the break. Thirolf chipped in 16 in the opening period on 5 of 7 shooting from the floor, 3-5 from behind the arc.
The Princeton defense, ranked No. 7 in the nation, held the Lions without a field goal in the first 10:58 of the second period. Columbia made up for it on the line, hitting 20 of 22 in the second half. Columbia shot a mere 25 percent from the floor in the game, with a 17.9 percent showing in the second half.
Thirolf's 21 led all scorers, with Maggie Langlas (Jr., Missoula, Mont.) and Jessica Munson (So., Norristown, Pa.) each adding nine points. Thirolf had a team-high five rebounds and three steals.
Columbia's Shawnee Pickney led the Lions with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Today's Note of the Day
- Streakin' - The Tigers are currently riding a six-game winning streak, their longest in-season streak of the year. Princeton, which holds a 25-3 all-time series record against the Lions, is 16-1 against Columbia in the 90's. Princeton's last loss to the Lions came in the final game of the 1989-90 campaign.
- Center of attention - Senior center Lea Ann Drohan has 16 of
Princeton's
42 blocks this season. As a team Columbia has tallied 14 rejections on the
year.
- Center of attention II - Drohan currently ranks third in the league in
blocked shots, averaging 1.0 swats per game. Cornell's Jennifer Linker
places second in the Ivy with 1.06 each game.
- Bombs away - Maggie Langlas leads the Tigers with 37 three-pointers
this
season. Her 107 shots from long range place her fourth all-time in
three-pointers made in a career, one behind Laura Leacy '94 who graduated
with 108.
- Bombs away II - Classmate Kate Thirolf is on the heels of Maggie
Langlas
with 101 field goals from behind the arc.
- On the rise - Despite averaging 51.6 points in their first ten games, the Tigers are cashing in 60.6 over the last five games. In that span Maggie Langlas is averaging 20 points and Kate Thirolf is adding 10 rebounds per contest.
- Gotta have the board - Princton holds a 294-281 advantage on the
boards in
games it has won. In their seven losses, the Tigers were out-rebounded by
nearly 11 boards per game.
- Gaining control - The win at Yale marked the first time this year the
Tigers tallied single digits in turnovers with nine. Princeton has held a
1:1 or better assist-turnover ratio in only two games this season, with
both coming in their last three games.
- Where she ranks - Maggie Langlas, who leads the Tigers in several
statistical catagories, has her hand in the Ivy rankings as well.
Consider the following league rankings:
- fifth in overall scoring (14.3)
- second in Ivy scoring (21.3)
- fourth in Ivy field goal pct. (48%)
- second in 3-pt field goal pct (42%)
- first in free-throw percentage (90%)
- fifth in steals (2.2 per game)
