Princeton's women's open crew opened its 1998 season with a loss to arch-rival Brown. Rowing on windy, fast Lake Carnegie, Brown's women defeated Princeton 6:16.3-6:23.0.
Competing in its first-ever competition, the lightweight women's varsity eight fell to Villanova 7:11.4-7:16.4.
