PRINCETON, N.J. - Linley Gober wasted no time helping Princeton (12-4, 5-1 Ivy) get on the board against Stony Brook (8-10-1) Tuesday night as the junior scored in the first minute of the game off a pass from Julie Shaner. The goal came 48 seconds into the contest and the Tigers were just getting warmed up. Midway through the first half sophomore Heather Deerin made good on a penalty kick to give Princeton the 2-0 advantage at half time.
Senior Amee Reyes raised her season total to three when she scored an open-net goal early in the second half. Stony Brook goalkeeper Lori Nelson tried to make a sliding save out in front of the goal but Reyes avoided the slide while keeping control of the ball and easily kicked it in for the score. At the 68 minute mark freshman Theresa Sherry scored her team-leading eighth goal of the year on a give from from sophomore Krista Ariss to make it 4-0.
But the Tigers were not finished yet. It was a header by junior Jessica Collins coming off a corner kick from senior Lori Volker in the last ten minutes before the Princeton offense was done for the night.
Princeton recorded its 12th win and 12th shutout of the year. The Tigers close their regular season at home against Penn on Saturday, Nov. 4th at 5:00 p.m. at Lourie-Love Field
