ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Princeton men's water polo team claimed a first-place tie in the Collegiate Water Polo Association with a 9-5 victory over Bucknell on Sunday afternoon at Navy.
Today's win and yesterday's decisive victory over Navy 6-5 gave Princeton a 7-1 record in CWPA play. Each win more critical then the next, as Navy also finished at 7-1. The outright owner of first place will be announced tomorrow after officials look at goal differential among conference opponents.
Jon Pharris (Newport Beach, Calif.) was spectacular in goal, playing all four quarters and making 10 saves. Offensively the team got big goal support from freshman D.J. Halliday (Orinda, Calif.). Scoring a season-high two goals to help Princeton gain the win.
Princeton is currently 17-6 (7-1 CWPA) and will have off until Saturday, Oct. 14 when they play host to Queens at 10:30 a.m.
