Tigers Defeat American In Second Round of Wachovia Classic

RICHMOND, Va. - Linley Gober, Krista Ariss and Amee Reyes all delivered goals in the 3-0 victory over American Sunday afternoon in the second round of the Wachovia Classic at the University of Richmond.
The Tigers recorded their eighth shutout win of the season and improve to 8-2-0 overall.
Following a scoreless first half which saw Princeton outshoot AU 14-3, the Tigers got on the board at the 63:28 mark when Gober lofted a shot outside the penalty area just over Eagle 'keeper Julie Sierodzinski.
Princeton scored two goals in the final 20 minutes of the game with Ariss scoring at the 73:39 mark before senior forward Reyes drilled in a shot just inside the far post off of an assist from freshman midfielder Katie Krum to close the scoring at 78:37.
The Tigers controlled the match's tempo throughout, firing 26 shots to AU's five. Princeton goalkeeper Jordan Rettig made just one save while Sierodzinski stymied 13 shots.
