Men's Swimming and Diving Beats Cornell and Penn

ITHICA, N.Y. - The Princeton men's swimming and diving team won 11 out of 13 events to win their first meet of the season. The competition wasn't even close at the double-dual meet hosted by Cornell as the Tigers beat the Big Red 187.00-56.00 and Penn 191.00-52.00.
The relay team of Patrick Donahue, Matt Harrigan, Jesse Gage and Mike Salerno won the 400 medley with a time of three minutes 27.64 seconds. The relay team of Gage, Cunningham, Nathan Rebuck and Salerno won the 400 freestyle relay (3:07.32).
Kevin Volz won the 1,000 free (9:25.09) and the 500 free (4:34.74), Cunningham won the 200 free (1:42.40) and Gage won the 50 free (20.76).
Sophomore Carl Hessler won the 200 butterfly and set a new Cornell pool record with his time of 1:49.67. Harrigan won the 200 IM (1:53.93) and the 200 breaststroke (2:07.84), Salerno won the 100 free (47.16) and Steve Flemming won the 200 back (1:52.19).
Michael Sullivan placed second in the one-meter diving for the Tigers (261.25) and Eric Carty-Fickes was second in the three-meter (258.65). Princeton will host Brown, Penn State, Villanova and Tennessee at the Princeton Invitational Dec. 1-3 at DeNunzio pool.
