PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton women's basketball team is off to a rough start as they lost their fourth-straight game of the season, falling to Delaware 66-47 at Jadwin Gym on Wednesday night.
In the 2000-01 home opener, the Tigers trailed by 15 points with 2:19 remaining in the first half and were able to cut the deficit to nine before time expired. In that span of just over two minutes, the Tigers held Delaware scoreless as they made a 7-0 run to close the half at 30-21.
The second half saw much of the same domination from Delaware, as the Blue Hens netted eight unanswered points to start the half and gained a 38-21 advantage. Princeton trailed by as many as 21 three times, but battled back to get within 12 points with just under five minutes remaining in the game. That would be as close as the Tigers could get before taking the eventual 19-point loss, 66-47.
Maureen Lane (Seattle, Wash.) led Princeton with 15 points, followed by Lauren Rigney (Marlborough, Mass.) who scored 11 and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
Delaware was led by Cindy Johnson's 17 points, while Christina Rible and teammate Lindsay Davis scored 15 and 11 respectively.
Princeton is currently 0-4 and will travel to Lafayette on Wednesday, Dec. 6 for a double-header with the men.
