PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton wrestling team has improved it's record to 7-1 on the season by defeating The College of New Jersey in the home opener for the Tigers 26-14.
Last season, Princeton finished with a 3-10 overall record, but are off to a fast start in 2000-01. Jeff Bernd led the early charge for the Tigers as he gave his team an early 6-0 lead in the 149 pound weight class. The College of New Jersey cut the deficit to two points in the second match of the night, but it proved to be the closest they would get as the Tigers pulled away four-straight wins from Ryan Bonfiglio (165), Greg Parker (174), Anthony DeBartolo (184)and Chris McLaughlin (197).
The College of New Jersey Lions were handed their first loss of the season, and now sit at 2-1.
